The Lawn

The voluntary gardeners
Placed signs along the fence
Announcing that they’d given up,
Despite their best intents.

“We can’t maintain this lawn because,
Though signage says No Pets,
The owners let their dogs run wild,
Displaying no regrets.”

Perhaps these words have hit the mark
As those in charge have dealt
A reprimand that’s harsh enough
For guilt to have been felt.

For lately, there have not been any
Pets upon that lawn,
Though it may be too late for any
Grass to grow upon.

Such a shame. We have a dog park and still nobody picks up their dog's surprises We have to respect our precious environments, especially these days, as we expect others to respect our pets. They ironically need those environments too.

This says enough "“We can’t maintain this lawn because, Though signage says No Pets, The owners let their dogs run wild, Displaying no regrets.”

Good community announcement through your poetry, Irene. It's getting better in our neighborhood, but there's still quite a few pet owners that just don't care about anything except their convenience. Have a great weekend! Bill

Although Hawai'i has laws - especially prohibiting dogs on the beach, no police officer will enforce those laws, and you would not believe the excuses officers have for not citing petowners! Another on the mark poem, Ilene! Aloha!

I do so appreciate this number, I doth loathe irresponsible dog owners! I never leave the house with less than three bags and I don’t even let my dog pee on evergreen foliage or tended gardens. xomo
