Ah, that Mandela's humor! Never thought of him that way before... And yet, so consistent with his dignified mien...Now if he had just called the witch (I mean 'Queenie') something like 'Liz' or 'Tin Lizzie' or some such. LOL … But that wouldn't have rung true for Nellie, I mean Nelson. -- Sent tongue-in-cheek from close to the Arctic Circle, i.e., Chicago :)

Hi Gershon, Freezing weather you are having, we are sitting at 30 degrees centigrade and we reached 39 a couple of weeks back. I see you are a royalist fan!!!! No Nelson Mandela, was a no nonsense kind of person, straight down the line! Thanks for an awesome comment, Poetry hugs, Jennifer.

Greetings Jennifer, you just reminded me of a half done graphite portrait of his in my file. oh how interesting. true that is, very funny man. i would watch his documentaries with my sisters and imitate his funny self. then they would refer to me as the commentator. Interesting take on someone who once was and is no more. Jesz

Hi Jesz, Thank you for a lovely comment. A truly great man and a world icon, who had to depart from mother earth one day, as we all will. I had the greatest respect for ex President Nelson Mandela - such a wonderful nature and charterer. Thank-you for you visit. You might be interested to read another poem which refers to this great human being, it is titled, "Viva, father of a rainbow nation". Poetry hugs, Jennifer.

Hi John, Nelson Mandela was known for his humour, even whilst he was incarcerated! He often invited CEO's of large corporations and hosted them at his house and on their departure from his home would say humorously I'm sure that your Company can afford R1000000-00 towards the Nelson Mandela's Childrens Fund! They were thus obliged in a very smart way, to donate with a smile on their face! Thank-you for your comment and wishes. Poetry hugs, Jennifer.

Hi Besma, It is actually my first attempt at this form of poetry - had to carefully structure my four lines in order to express this remarkable man's humor - using the American way of spelling humour - thank-you for such a warm and welcome comment. Love and poetry hugs - you are such a special person Besma - blessings. Jennifer.

Absolutely Lindsay, and never a grudge did this this man bear, and insisted on a peaceful transition - something the whole world admired him for. We have elections in April, all a little on edge but hopefully the situation will be amicable. I have apologized to soup readers as line 4 did not adhere to competition rules so have edited and resubmitted. Hope you like the change.. at a later stage will write a Zuma poem. After the solitude of prison, Mandela is to be commended for his ability to get along with others. He certainly deserved more wives, but how could he live with all that chatter? Good luck in the contest! Aloha! Rico

Yes I agree, he was certainly to be commended. it was actually Zuma who had the 4 wives on whom I will write a a poem about later but line 4 was incorrect as I only needed to speak about Mandela, so edited and resubmitted. Hope you like the change. Yasou and poetry hugs, Jennifer.
