The Last Snap
A burial site, with coffin lay
the flag does cover flat,
the Honor Guard, in crisp array
will lift and fold ~ first snap!
The years of struggle now beneath
with courage so compact,
a solemn moment in bequeath
contention wavers placid.
Ah, fold the corners so complete
your elbows, measure ~ pat
you'll hand it to the honor seats
from arms to breast ~ they'll mat!
We know War was a major feat,
we shared the absenced fact
a loved one, always gone, replete
now silence follows aft!
Salute and click your heels so grand
bend forward, hand to wit
the loved ones in the chosen seats ~
. . . . . .so close to gather it! . . . . .
The Military funeral is the most moving of any ceremony ever, anywhere!
In my time, two fathers, and a brother ~ the training must be precise,
the Honor Guard, almost dance through with such awesome respect!
