The Last Flight Has Left

 
the Taliban were just waiting
for the US troops to leave Afghanistan
after 20 years of war
they took only days, weeks to take control
the people live in fear
when they leave home they may never return
girls are in hiding
children cry
mothers weep
the men and boys are angry
the Canadian flights are finished
the US flights are finished
the people left behind are unprotected
killing
mass graves
bombing
raping
the world watches the destruction of a people

I'm happy for the people who managed to get out but sad for those left behind, the Taliban are ruthless and follow a twisted ideology. I think they should have started these evacuations months ago when they were in control. Tom

Thank you for this poem Constance..raw and truthful Pray for the Afghan people they are in real trouble..I'm afraid that the American hostage for taliban terrorist swap is about to commence.. Its the Jimmy Carter Iran hostage affair all over again. Godbless us all.
