The Journalist's Creed

Are we guardians of what’s right
Of fairness, integrity and zeal,
On our shoulders does truth rest,
With commitment of pure steel.

Is history not a knowing guide
That lights a path for us to see
Where not to stumble, trip or fall,
So that our spirit can roam free?

But that freedom sorely won
Has a price for us to pay,
A moral compass for our deeds
That neither pride nor fame may sway.

We hold the line where others falter,
Democracy’s one sustaining friend,
Neither partial nor capricious,
To others will never to bend.

If the pen vanquishes the sword,
Pick up that pen and write
Words soaked in fact never in fiction,
The very kernel of what’s right!
