USA's southern border represents a focus of a problem with root cause that spans generations. It began around the time of Regan with the Iran Contra affair. Gang deportation exacerbated the issue years later. Trump decimated the border infrastructure in terms of organization, negotiation, and management. All this has led to what we have now. At least some improvement might have come through the bill before Congress. However, in the tradition of government waste, months of negotiation were scuttled. We can thank D.T. a.k.a. Dick Tatorial.

Gun funds fought latin commies And launched immigrant tsunamis Trump's wall at the border Now reads out of order And can't stop the kids and their mommies Don't forget gang deportation That affected some latin nation What we sent down there Gave many a scare Being bullied is no vacation Republicans caught in a lie We do know why they won't vote aye They'd the polls ruffle With border kerfuffle Designed to make Biden the bad guy

hMM, I guess I will not express my real belief on this one, but I heard it was in the news yesterday that talk of civil war is in the air. Mine is one of the states that would be with Texas, and I am glad of that. I sure hope things don't come to civil war. That would be so scary!!

Andrea, you're comment is thought provoking. We hope there are people around in sufficient numbers who value our Constitution and the rule of law. A civil war with shots fired would not be a good thing.

Ah this is interesting, i once watched a documentary about border control and how some were deported etc. which was very shocking and real. It was popular on netflix sometime ago. I think politics is a fickle selfish game and so many are caught in the trap, in so many countries, although i havent been really reading much about politics there now, i think everywhere in the world, its the same. Your ability to enlighten us and get readers to ponder on real issues is brilliant and praiseworthy

You are very kind. The thing that pained many of us was separating children from their parents. It actually had no significant effect on the people crossing. It's created a lot of angst here and elsewhere, but I do know it takes faith to risk ones life to make these journeys. Hard to imagine since many of us here live a life free from gangs, fear, and starvation.

As I am not from the USA, I cant say I know much about politics over there.. However your limerick offers a sharp and satirical commentary on contemporary political issues, particularly focusing on the intersection of immigration policies and the political manoeuvring surrounding them. The use of succinct and rhythmic language adds to the impact of the verses, highlighting the complexity and often contentious nature of discussions around immigration and border security.

Thanks Silent One. Yes, it is not an issue that we can blame on one party/person as it stewed for a long time. The experts who study the situation indicate that we cannot solve the issue with border control alone, but we could fix some of the chaos. I did not realize you are from the UK. I was just in Ireland and Northern Ireland (EU) several months ago for a week or so. It's really lovely being a tourist. We noted that Ireland seems well off economically.

Duke, a simple point in fact, a question for you to ponder. Why was the southern border not a problem under the prior administration, and why now is it the fault of Republicans during an election year? Democrats = Border Republicans = Abortion Lynchpin issues, typical political folly.

Yes mark, it's been a problem for decades exacerbated now by issues in Central and South America. And there is political rhetoric that contaminates the negotiations. Too bad this moment to help control the situation slipped by. I think most independent observers note that D.T. would like to use the issue up until next year. In the meantime, therefore, increased chaos!
