The Imagination Ladder

He’s kept this rickety old ladder all these years… even as he moved from location to location… It was a reminder of the day his dad unlocked his imagination. He remembers asking his father…it was the 22nd day of June… If there was ever a ladder long enough…so they could climb up to the moon. That night under a crescent moon in a sky abundantly starred… his dad took out this old ladder and set it up in their front yard. "This is all the ladder we need.” He said. “Because we have been blessed…with an imagination…and our imagination will do the rest.” At the top of the ladder…his dad closed his eyes saying, “This night is ours…I will meet you on the moon… I’m going to climb up on the stars.” “Let’s see who gets there first.” He said In a voice both clear and loud. “While you’re climbing up the stars…I’m gonna ride up on a cloud.” They sat on the moon together…smiling…their arms intertwined… looking down on all the rooftops…and the ladder they left behind. He’ll never get rid of this old ladder that evokes the memory of his father and that wonderful day in June… when…through the power of imagination… they sat together on the moon.
