*Hurricane Irma

_______________

A Nun Helps:

In this Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, photo provided by the Miami-Dade Police Department, Sister Margaret Ann holds a chain saw near Miami, Fla. Police said the nun was cutting trees to clear the roadways around Archbishop Coleman Carrol High School in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. (Miami-Dade Police Department via AP)

The aftermath of images are so difficult to see Hurricane Irma is gone, leaving us hauntingly So many people are left behind who need things Relying on help to come soon, with angel’s wings There are so many people who have loss to face Broken streets, broken lives, many displaced Demolished homes, no electricity, they are hot Some may have no bed or maybe only a cot Flooded homes, fallen trees and flooded streets Strength prevails for those, not accepting defeat While light shines on a Nun, who picks up a chainsaw She is cutting trees, helping those who are feeling raw Amidst pain left behind by a storm so fierce and mean Kindness and sacrifice emerge from the ruins seen Heidi Sands 9/13/17

Nice poem Heidi...proud of the way the people in this state I now call home carried themselves, our neighborhood was just working together cutting trees and fallen branches, no one thought about anything but the work that needed to be done,...storm surge ended one block from my house

Hi Frederic. It is great to see your comment. That is wonderful. It was such a bad storm and you were so close to the storm surge. Thank God you are ok. Thank you for your visit.

Saw her on TV, what a great statement of her faith. These tragedies seem to always bring out the best or worst (looters) of our humanity. God bless her...
