The Hong Kong A-Levels -- a Wicked, Wicked System

Hailed as the toughest exam in the world, Piling pressure on teenage boys and girls. Study, study, study To get into university. Study, study, study, The government doesn't care about your stifled creativity. It's a rigid, elitist system, Dividint students into different spectrums. Band one is for all the smart kids, If you get into Band two or three you'll never succeed. They don't care if you really learn or just cram, They even limit the name you can use in the English writing exam. Perfect for nurturing "go-fun-dai-nun"-- kids who only know to study But with no other abilities -- including me. FIVE MONTHS TILL LIBERATION!!!

This is an excellent poem. I like how the title resonates throughout the poem, and how the essence of the system is reinforced. I was in China recently a visited the Olympic stadium and the Great Wall. Just hang in there; it will be over soon. Great job and welcome to Poetry Soup! ~Joseph

Christy - Sometimes I forget to consider that many others on the site are from other regions of the world - Though it is also one of the main reasons I love this site To get to know people from other regions is to gain vast amounts of knowledge and understanding I have learned - This system sounds very tough - I'm getting ready to start back to Collage at the age of 48 (Well I will be next month) - It's sort of scary and exciting at the same time - i can't wait - God Bless
