The Heart of Winter

Breathless whispers of icicles hang
Across the front porch rails
Erasing all memory of Autumn’s caress
The gentle warmth of a shimmering
Sunlight, beckoning through the
Heartfelt happiness of morning
Dawn that leads into a hope filled
Worship of glorious perfection
Embracing the moment with passion
Capturing love on the winds of promise
Breaking free from all the colors
That reflected hues of serenity so flawless
A mystery of joy collected on wings
Of soundless snowflakes who sigh through
Moonlight and starry flight along the
Night sky where winter silently strokes
The naked branches that have been
Stripped of their colorful coats and given
In place of them, a grayish casing that
Creates feelings of melancholy and ambiguity
Bonds of joy praise the heaven’s above
With soft blessings sought by angels
Who soar through the cloudless, azure skies
Playing sweet tunes of bliss and adoration
Alive with inspiration and insight into hearts
Who grow heavy from the flow of crimson
Devotion in the veins that lace through
Their beautiful spirits, wise and warm, willing
To offer from the depths of their being
Light that thrives on kindness and giving
