The Haunted Lighthouse

I took a long walk down an unfamiliar beach
I needed to get far away and be out of reach
I walked for miles and miles until I needed to rest
I was starting to feeling better and less stressed
I started to walk again and couldn’t believe my eyes
There stood a majestic lighthouse, I was mesmerized
It was huge and nestled up high on a cliff of rocks
Birds were flying over and at the top was a black hawk
It was getting dusk and I knew needed to head back
The ocean was getting rough as the night was getting black
It was then the light in the lantern room came on bright
The beacon circulating around the beach, lighting up the night
I looked up into the lantern room and saw a man standing inside
I thought he must be the lighthouse keeper, or a guide
I blinked and looked up again and now he was gone
I knew I needed to leave, I had been out here too long
This poem is worth reading. It is a spooky, captivating story about a haunted lighthouse. I have always admired the beauty of lighthouses. Many lighthouses have haunted pasts, especially in the state I live in. I once got a tour inside Pemaquid Point lighthouse. It is the lighthouse that is in the picture with my poem. It was magnificent but also spooky. I would never spend the night in one! It was that experience that inspired my poem.
