The Grinch In Me
"Christmas doesn't come from a store but
perhaps means a little bit more."
Quote from Dr. Seuss's Book,
How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

In my childhood- I loved Christmas with joy,
but now I hate Christmas . . . I am a Grinch;
oh yes, a past so full of glee, of toy,
now I just find such pain- my heart does pinch.
Other people relish the songs and cheer,
but I have built a place to hide away;
other people gather family near,
not me- I have nothing cheerful to say.
I have a box of things Christmas, so old,
they bring me tears- sorrows of past great love;
I want to crush Christmas and dream thoughts cold,
oh red, oh gold, sparkling garnish- a dove.
Yes, yes Christmas is not about bought gifts;
but LOVE- oh God make me of love that drifts.
