The Great Invitation

There was a woman
With a college education
Who gave up a career
For a better occupation

Loving mother and doting wife
She somehow devoted her life
Stayed at home and made do
Lived a little lean for children of two

Then one day received a special
Invitation, to join in this celebration
She decided to study news
Catch up on political views

Studied at night when all did sleep
To be ready for event in one week
Then the night was finally here
Next to a four star general

Her name did apprear
She was able to carry on decent
Conversation; while she was next
To him at the table

But her face did red appear
When she realized that
She was cutting his meat
And calling him dear

(The general went away with a smile on his face.)
