The Gift Tree
My elderly neighbor came by one day
she gave me a twig to plant right away
I notice a tree your front yard is in need
she'll grow big and strong and be a beauty
So I planted the twig and watch her grow
and through the years she's given quite a show
Each season she changes for a new display
The gift tree is admired every day
Spring she blooms with blossoms in little bouquets
during summer her gracious leaves provide lots of shade
And each Fall yellow leaves brighten her array
Bare branches in winter as she slumbers away
Her arms stretch tall to the heavens pray
The gift tree indeed from my dear neighbor long gone
Her strength and beauty for years will be strong
Of all the gifts ever given to me
Each season brings joy from my gift tree
