The Gift That I Give You

The Gift That I Give You
Was a warm safe home in my tummy
a place where your life first started
where God knitted you into my baby boy
Through the years I gave you the gift of my love
I sang and rocked you day and night
I raised you and taught you
I wiped your tears away
Right before my eyes
you were getting taller and taller
before I knew it you had grown into a man
into the best young man I had ever know
They say a mother can be partial
I guess that can be true
I must tell only the truth
the gift I gave to you does not compare to the gift you have given me.

Congratulations on your win Paula, with this poetic gift. There’s nothing that compares to a mother’s love, or the love from a daughter or son. Well done! ~ Belle

Paula congrats! Your ending is superb! As a son I never looked at it that way! I was grateful to mum for what she did for me, but she always said she was proud of me and said what you have just said here! Wonderful write!!
