The Gift of a Day
in tangerine streamers
and crimson bows
this day unwrapped
itself like the gift
that it is
the edges
of the horizon
held the moon
flickering
like candles
atop a cake
before fading
in the trails
of smokeless mist
the break of day
blossomed
in a palette
of autumn's
golden bouquet
delicately painted
upon the cannvas
tonight
i will send
my wishes
adrift
with the stars
in hopes
of a tomorrow's rise
