SUCH SAD TIMES ON SOUP - I THOUGHT WE ARE MEANT TO WRITE OUR OWN POEMS

The ‘net’ is closing in, revealing a ‘web of lies’ Those who use AI and those who plagerise poems fool no one but themselves! Quote by poet!
A gossamer shroud drapes the old lych-gate I’d hopes it would vanish, alas it’s too late A ghostly poet rises from her earthly grave I’m grief-stricken, why can’t people behave? Posting copied works seeking notoriety A playground for Dead Poets Society Stealing poems leaves me groaning Write your own words, it'll stop me moaning! I loathe seeing work that has been taken Why do folk do it, it’s just Godforsaken! I'm fed up of reading lots of work by AI Yet poets post it, then vehemently deny Please pick up your pen, use your brain to write Pretending that it's your work just isn’t right!

I think most people agree with this one, my friend - I can't see the point of them posting AI

Jan, the cartoon is funny and the poem is on target. If we use AI to write our poems, we are basically saying we're brain dead. Your work is always a pleasure to read and think about. Smiles!!

Thanks Anne-Lise. I hope Constance likes my poem I know how much she dislikes the use of AI on the site and many of us are disgusted by the blatant use of plagiarised poems recently:-) hugs Jan xx

Great write, dear. Your last couplet brings it home well. AI really can be of use at times in the field of education for teachers, but students use it for their essays and speeches for class. Makes grading so difficult. It's discouraging. What's the use if your poem isn't your own work. Why get credit for it? I understand where you're coming from. It's going to be more of a problem in the future and will affect everyone, not just poets, unfortunately. One needs to be ethical.

I know how difficult it is for teachers these days but many know the ability of a student and can see if its 'too good to be you' The use of Ai is a person cheating themselves but seeing plagiarism is a different matter, it is theft and seeing the words of other poets especially a poet who died in 1990 is despicable:-( hugs jan xx

I love this. And it's probably best sonnet you ever wrote ,Never will I resort to AI. I have written maybe 800 sonnets and I don't need AI butting in. This goes to faves

Well said Jan, it’s unbelievable that folk will post poems they didn’t write themselves, passing them off as their own. The truth will out, it always does. Beryl xx

Copying poems that someone who’s passed on wrote is dreadful and I can’t imagine anyone doing such an awful thing. Beryl xx

Poet's – I use the word here tongue-in-cheek – who rely on Al have no brains, much less talent! The real disgrace is when they dare to attached their name to it! / Maurice

Folk who post AI, fool only themselves, . To see plagiarised poems posted recently especially one where the poet died in 1990 is beyond disgusting and it has upset a lot of people. I may be a mere simple poohet Maurice but at least I 'produced' my own work. hugs Jan xx

What a powerful "THE GATES OF WRATH" write/quote. Love the pictures. I have said, a writer needs a heart to write. AI does Not have a heart. "Good Luck" We both did this one. Have a lovely day writing away..........

We are in scary times, Jan, and I find it both infuriating and sad. It seems that people will do anything they can to build themselves up, even if it’s at the expense of others. I guess that honor has joined chivalry in being a thing of the past. Your poem expresses this beautifully - in YOUR OWN WORDS!
