The Funeral

Black Squirrels..... Leave no shadow Heads bowed in solemn faith Cars weaving between stations of the Cross; and old spanish tiled crypts A glimpse, then another the casket lowered The air, acrid with stinging ash of burnt metal; flesh Fused with memories lost © All Rights Reserved 09/25/13

Oh wow, Jim.......not only this poem is powerful........but I just listened in to the archive of Drake's show from yesterday....and I have this lump in my throat from hearing your poem "Where the Bluebirds have gone"..... your poem reflects on so many mixed emotions.....so many will benefit by knowing they aren't the only ones. This shared experience is so moving. And your uplifting attitude is to be commended......I loved hearing you talk about it at the end. You are an inspiration for others!!
