The Final Test

Taps plays softly upon the dead While memories burst across my eyes Sorrow and joy mingle remembering thy life Though many know of thee only few shed tears Shared with grief Is this the whole story of what is to be Can not more be told Do I then too dissolve into dust with no hope What therefore am I If only one shares with me am I therefore less What of those who knew many and silently view thy life Who conducts the final test Was I therefore overwhelmed by that test too Oh the pain of not knowing who will really care And the true minds of those who are there to share The silent memories while taps is played upon my heart Viewing the remembrance of love now forever lost
