The Father
I am rougher than she,
These arms from sterner stuff
Are hewn,
Yet hold you with firm tenderness
Embraced against the beating
Heart
Enshrined in bars of steel.
I am harder than she,
These eyes from coarser flint
Are formed,
Yet see you with a burst of love
More brighter through the hidden
Tears
Forever cried unseen.
I am louder than she,
This voice from darker chords
Is wrought,
Yet tells you with a resonance,
A marinade of bourbon
Truth
I live for you alone.
I am weaker than she,
This soul from ragged cloth
Is stitched,
Yet burns with blue undying flame,
Radiates throughout
Infinity
For the child who is mine.
