The Experience

The car started to skid… I was having a catch with my Dad; I re-attended every birthday party that I had ever had. I relived my first kiss and the night my virginity was lost; I was driving that old red Mustang remembering how much my first car did cost. Shattered glass was everywhere… I saw my first child being born as the airbag smashed into my face shooting out from the horn. I attended every inning of the baseball game during the no-hitter my son did throw; In a matter of nanoseconds I watched all my children grow. I don’t think that I screamed - I don’t remember hearing any shouts; Just before the pain did reach my brain my consciousness gave out. I watched all of the good things that occurred throughout my life; reliving every love-making session that I had with my wife. My father and brother reached their hands out saying, “You’ve got nothing here to fear”; I attended both their funerals - my cheeks stained from all the tears. I hear the faint sound of beeping, probably from some life support machines – there’s the beeping and the hands stretched out with me somewhere in between. I saw my life flash before my eyes, but feel there are more stories left to be told; I am going to head back now to the beeping sound, I’ll be back some day later when I am old.
