The Eve of Christmas
THE EVE OF CHRISTMAS
At long last it’s pre-Christmas night
And Santa’s coming on his merry way.
Outside the moon and stars are bright
Children strain to catch a sight
Of reindeer pulling over-laden sleigh.
At long last it’s pre-Christmas night
Snow-capped roofs are glistening white;
Fairy lights are twinkling and gay.
Outside the moon and stars are bright
Younger ones have given up the fight
And fall asleep until the break of day.
At long last it’s pre-Christmas night
Older ones still hope they might
Catch Dad, red gown and beard of grey.
Outside the moon and stars are bright.
On this night all the world is right.
Let Christmas come without delay.
Outside the moon and stars are bright.
At long last it’s pre-Christmas night
