The Elusive Leprechauns

Bet your wondering why they're never seen?
The wee leprechauns all wearing the green
Well I'll tell you why
And this is no lie
They're all unconscious from too much Poteen

written 23rd February 2021

Poteen, known as poitin or potcheen, once illegal but now distilled commercially.
It is a very strong spirit once made from potatoes but now more often than not grain is used to distill it.

We have a local stuff illegally brewed at homes called 'arrack'...... very potent that even one peg of it is enough to give a kick to those who take it ! Next time we can booze these leprechauns with it ! :)

Wouldn't changing what they use to make it change the taste? Don't know that much about alcohol though so maybe not. Enjoyed reading about those fairies. Sara

Your humor once again is superb, and of course not only humorous but clever - strange how old ways of making liquor still linger on years after - we also have one here in South Africa called mampoer and in Crete, Greece called Raki. All are terribly strong like the Irish one that the Leprechauns drink! Blessings Jennifer.
