Notes About The Poem

~ my personal whimsical favorite that combines my love for monorhymes and children’s literature ~

The Elephant and the Ant

There once was a little mighty ant
Who was extravagant and arrogant
Known to be exorbitantly militant
She was so combatant and petulant
They nicknamed her My Commandant

One day she came across an elephant
Elegant and obviously dominant
She started on her typical rant
Then stopped and decided to recant
Both agreed it was all very insignificant

They chatted, it turned out the elephant
Was actually the ant's aunt
Suddenly the intolerant ant
Has become cheerful and exuberant
And now routinely breaks out in chant

This was a fun and whimsical 'gallivant' through so many 'ant' words with a cute storyline. An elephant being the ant's aunt! Made me smile. ~ John

So fun to read this one again. Aunts and ants are special..,especially aunts that are elephants. Don't like ants in pants, they should oly wear bermuda shorts. Have a wonderful Palm Sunday. I'm grilling tri tip roast. -Richard

haha, This was VERY cleverly done in monorhyme. I recall an elephant contest years ago that I worked so hard on but it was one of those judges I spoke of who NEVER bends and I lost out. Anyway, if I remembered its name, I'd tell you. I like when someone does monorhyme as you have done here, without making it seem forced.

I bet my dear Line, you are not that far off about the elephant be the aunt of an ant... If Mice and men share about 97.5 per cent of their working DNA, just one per cent less than chimps and humans, then there is a possibility that the elephant be the aunt of an ant... Hmmmmmm...

Hi Line, What an interesting and "fun" spin on this form. I really enjoy this form. Just the thought of an ant elephant being related is really funny. Your words provided delightful imagery in my head. Excellent in job:-)Alexis
