The Edge of Darkness
When the day is done, and the night has come,
And the moon is coming up on the horizon,
When the scattered leaves on the quiet streets,
Get shuffled by the wind and your tired feet.
When the teenage crowd starts getting loud
And all the drunken bums start getting proud,
Well that’s when you know, that’s when you know,
That’s when you know, you’ve come to the edge of darkness….
For ten thousand years, in spite of our fears,
We spit in their faces and hold back our tears,
When the weak and the strong just can’t get along,
And the burden of justice is borne by the wrong
side of the law, and it’s always the same,
they tie you to the cross and they give the blame.
That’s when you know, that’s when you know,
That’s when you know, you’ve come to the edge of darkness…
When a stolen girl, and her John unfurl
The black remains of their teenage world,
When the shaking hands let the angel dust
Merge with the blood in a body rush,
Afraid to call, cause it’s been too long,
Living this way in the misery zone,
That’s when you know, that’s when you know,
That’s when you know, you’ve come to the edge of darkness…
