The Dragon Cloud

On many a long, hot summer’s day, I prance down to the field and lay, On the wet, wet grass, and stare right at the sky. Watching, waiting as the clouds go by, Waiting for a dragon cloud to fly. When after long, hot hours of waiting. As I lay, anticipating, I finally spot a small cloud way up high. I know at once the dragon cloud’s arrived, I take a leap, and suddenly I fly. We fly among the heavens and the stars are slyly winking. They see the Earth so far below and probably are thinking, ‘What a wondrous thing that girl has tried.’ I swell up twice my size because of pride. We make our way back to the earth, the dragon cloud and I. I slowly fall back to the fields below, And realize that the dragon has to go. He flies off in the distance without even a goodbye, I wave my hands, ‘till he’s gone from my sight. I close my eyes, and only then I cry.
