The Dimming Heart

The Dimming Heart

My heart is heaving and dashing
Like the roll of a vessel
On a merciless sea.
Fate gives generous impulse
To commotion and conflict
As I speed through the flowers of life.
My desires and sensuous lust have become
Mere misty phantoms of passion
That are fading and dying away.
My life is a river flowing free
Destined for a grave
So silently.

Very beautiful Free Verse. Has sadness in it as well, especially in the final three lines. Welcome to PoetrySoup.
