The Devil Made Desire
The devil made desire to hurt women.
He made wars to lessen the number of men
the cellophane whores with the hole
in their hearts
strong, masculine arms to hold masculinity
counterfeit caring
arrows aimed at the softer targets
“who had nothing but love for you baby”
iron cages
visual, auditory and synthetic satisfaction
whatever distracts the object of desire
with eyes bulging and pulse racing
ready to lunge forward to the fake fantastic
God gave love in extra measure to some women,
the peaceful, the supportive, quiet, accepting, Existential
tearful heart that hides in the shadows of the night
the lonely, the hopeful, the faithful, the dutiful, the dedicated,
the consistent, the ailing spirit that fights for survival, the maternal
the passionate, the virtuous, the honorable, the trustworthy, faithfully
transparent in thought
a deep well of character
where love is greater than desire
