The Designer Scent of Us
You don’t want to hear how I want you;
You’re going to hear it anyway,
sprayed all over these perfumed pages of poetry;
You don’t want to know that
the only fear lies inside you;
You are the one who’s running.
You don’t want to hear that
I’m not going anywhere;
That now someone
will stand beside you no matter what.
Saying so little with so many words,
you don’t want to hear any of mine;
That would mean you’d have to face yourself
and what’s inside;
You don’t want to hear that
it’s hard to bottle up love.
That eventually it will win
implode or explode
until the fairy tale staged around us
eventually is told;
You don’t know it but you’ve been covered
all over in the scent of who we are
since the moment we met;
It’s designer strong,
to capture everything that we are
together;
You don’t want to hear that
our paths crossing was divine intervention;
That people would kill for what fell into our laps.
You’re going to breathe that in anyway,
sprayed all over these perfumed pages of poetry.
