The hunters could not find her Venison they desired to eat Then her carcass lay at the edge Of an open field, next to the deep woods

Sara, I have deep empathy for God's nonhuman creatures when hunter's kill them for cheap sport, and not for sustenance as they were meant to be. I've written a very long narrative (17 pages of blank verse) on this theme, too long to post however. Thanks again for stopping by. / Maurice

It's so sad when the shot misses its mark and the animal, that was blissfully unaware of danger, suffers from its injuries. It's heartbreaking when the hunter cannot find the injured animal. Your tender poem expresses this plight with moving emotion. Best wishes for a win.. ~Susan
