The Dangling Thread

Like the thread that dangles from my sleeve And unravels when it is pulled You pulled at the thread sewn in my soul Leaving a clump of string when you were through I can feel my spirit unraveling With each lie with which you tug I can feel my soul falling apart As you take advantage of my love The thread that held together The soul of a happy man Has slowly been extracted By a woman’s cheating hand No needle can replace it You can’t use a sewing machine Only a pile of string is left behind As you pulled the soul-thread clean
