The Dance of Dances
From a portrait on the wall, I could see a lovely lady,
swinging and dancing to the sounds of peace and happiness.
It reminded me of a cousin who loved to dance many years ago.
I tell you; he must have taken all of my dancing DNA because I can't dance.
There have been times when I was home all alone.
Not a creature in sight; even the cats and dogs were gone.
I looked all around to make sure no one else was around.
Hit songs of Gospel music were making sweet and joyful sounds.
There were beats in my bones and an upbeat rhythm that would astound.
But if anyone caught me dancing, they'd surely think I was a clown.
You see when I was young, I was too shy to even try to learn how to dance.
But there was one time an older girl tried to teach me, but I never learned to dance. There have been times when all alone, the music came, and I, in my way, began to dance. I moved with the music and jumped to the beats! I listened to the lyrics, and oh what a treat! Like David of old after a mighty victory, I was dancing in praise and gratitude to my Good Lord. I said I was shy, but I'm not afraid to "do it my way'. So, if you should see me leaping or swinging, don't fault me for dancing in my own way.
