The Breath of God
Listen carefully every morning,
you hear the breath of God.
Be attentive to the birds' symphony,
the melodious hum of bees
the wish wash of the breakers
that blast the rocks down near the sea.
Hush, that's the wind whispering,
as clouds race overhead in laughter
eager to reach the lofty hills
where trees bow down their heads
and leaves rustle in tonal patterns,
a gentle lilting rhythm to soothe
my turbulent thoughts.
Is it a wonder then
that with each noise
at break of dawn,
my thoughts turn to You
Oh, my dear loving God?
