The Blanket
My brother and I once played hooky
On the porch in the cool morning air
I had a blanket wrapped around me
Climbing a step ladder that was there
Standing at the top of the ladder
"Look at me now I'm a giant!", I yelled
I climbed down and took a few steps
The confusion then quickly excelled
For me, the story started over
Though I was crying, I didn't know why
When I saw my brother I asked him
"You fell down", was his quick reply
I guess I hit my head when I fell
I was still dizzy, with my brain ajar
I asked him, "Why are we not in school?"
When he said, "we're sick", I said ,"We are?"
Fifteen years later I told this story
Everyone laughed, but as soon as they quit
My brother said", I guess you should know,"
"About that blanket, I stepped on it!"
