The Blanket

My brother and I once played hooky On the porch in the cool morning air I had a blanket wrapped around me Climbing a step ladder that was there Standing at the top of the ladder "Look at me now I'm a giant!", I yelled I climbed down and took a few steps The confusion then quickly excelled For me, the story started over Though I was crying, I didn't know why When I saw my brother I asked him "You fell down", was his quick reply I guess I hit my head when I fell I was still dizzy, with my brain ajar I asked him, "Why are we not in school?" When he said, "we're sick", I said ,"We are?" Fifteen years later I told this story Everyone laughed, but as soon as they quit My brother said", I guess you should know," "About that blanket, I stepped on it!"

Enjoyed the poem. Can laugh now when looking back. As the saying goes 'boys will be boys'.

That's right. The phrase popular now is "It is what it is!".....Thanks for commenting......Pat

I'm glad you turned out okay, but your brother could have done serious damage, to the extent that you wouldn't write any funny poems at all!

That's true. He said he didn't tell me because he was afraid I'd beat him up! I probably would have, but no sense in crying over spilled brain cells that slipped through the porch floor!!
