The Blank White Page
you drew me back
childhood friends
then teenage lovers
inseparable
holding hands
delicate verse
public embraces everywhere
you as parchment
I as pen
it was different then
I don’t know when
but we grew up
grew apart
forgot to care
I wanted a bigger life
years went by
I moved far away
but I never forgot
there were
other lovers
some provided money
some possessed fame
some were just mere distractions
none made me as happy as you
I am so thankful that we are one again
but I’m so scared
you have changed
or have I
you don’t seem to get me anymore
I need to know
my words
still speak to you
still pleasure you
still bleed my spirit into you
am I being foolish
I feel self-conscious
your criticism makes me cry
But my love, I adore you
you hold all of the purity left inside me
I will never leave you alone again
