The Big One
Untethered and roaming in a world I've never seen
The colors have all changed
A parallel to what I knew, yet different
Emptiness has introduced itself
Like a balloon expanding, I float with nothing to hold me
I feel, yet there's still nothing
I blink with ease, though there's weight in my eyes
As if I'm being pulled down by an invisible force that I can't see, but instead, feel
The light has left me.
The embers are gone
It's cold and the only comfort there is the grey smoke that coats the surfaces
Life did once exist.
Dreams were painted all over the walls
Hope filled the tables
Grey remains
The quiet remains
Comforting all the same.
Alone again I am, but that's okay
In my own home, I'm a guest now
I don't know this place, but a sense of familiarity brushes my mind
Have I been here before?
Who lives here?
Who lived here?
Welcome home
