The Beckoning
The Beckoning
Eloped, swift youth of summer’s breeze
Floating in unfiled memories,
Soaring through the chill of ecstasy
Beyond the realms of sight.
I hear.
To snatch whilst sleeping
Beauty from my eyes,
The softness of pale, unblemished skin
All and nothing within my reach,
A voided silence of my past.
I hear you.
The scent of time, of summer’s rain
Tobacoed air, mulberry wine,
Rooms perfumed in elegance, once mine.
And stooped the lonely buds
Of summer’s missed,
As we bathed in autumns leaves,
Our lives fashioned by dreams,
Clinging to yesterdays,
I dreamt in the past,
Age uncorked, a withered vine.
A rainbow bled my heart
My eyes a million dreams.
The curtain falls,
I hear you calling,
The sweet chill of my name.
Together again .
