The Beauty of Trees At Sunrise
Waking oneself up in the early morn
especially in springtime when you arise
your eyes are opened to all one sees
there are birds airing their tuneful cries
You want to still yourself at that moment
stand to wish the world would just stop
taking in that thing of sheer beauty
such glory to admire holding never to drop
It's such a thing most glorious
walking in the midst of a wood
nothing can be compared at all
focus your eyes there be understood
All of this must be seen before sunrise
to capture the colours so awesomely bright
no painter could bring out such perfection
takes your breath away there at first sight
('Nothing is more beautiful than the loveliness of the woods before sunrise.')
- George Washington Carver (1860-1943)
