The Beast Within
While the thick fog blankets the bright night sky
A full moon illuminates my dark path
Suddenly I'm crimped with horrific pains
My heart starts to pump faster and faster
Flesh begins tearing away from my bones
All my bones breaking and growing larger
Hair covers my body from head to toe
I've lost total control of my mind now
A strong desire for flesh consumes my thoughts
Unaware of the beast I have become
Visions come in and out, of empty streets,
Knocking over trash cans and chasing cats
Now glimpses of an old man and his dog
Getting closer and closer, my heart stops
Taking every step slower and slower
Till I have found the right distance to pounce
Reaching the mark my heart begins to race
I jump at the man and my mind goes black
Seeing clear now, I'm not in the same place
My body naked and cold, drenched in sweat
I look to my hands they're painted in blood
Now panicking, wondering what happened
Fearing now, the unknown reality
Focusing on my current location
I stumble to my feet, dizzy and sick
And scurry through the dim morning sunlight
Miles, later knowing now where I am
Finding my home I entered in a haste
To dreadfully wait and pray for the truth
