The Battle Within

"Peace comes not from the absence of conflict in life but from the ability to cope with it." Quotemaster.Org All people have experienced inner conflict, a struggle in the mind and battle with yourself; a dark shadow- a turmoil of head and heart, grappling and questioning to make any decisions. Your thinking is out of balance and not aligned, it is a negative energy that is heavy on your spirit; so emotional, so exhausting, and overwhelming, oh yes, I have questioned myself many times. I have been full of fear, worry, anxiety, frustration, that hindered any decisions be they simple or complex; hesitating about my moral and ethical expectations, trying to conform with relationships that were doomed. My self perception suffered and I was full of disgrace, questioning, what was my place and purpose; I just stopped sharing my religious and political views, and knew something had to change so I could move on. So, I started to acknowledge the conflicts, owning them, and in a detached way I weighted the pros and cons; realizing there was no escape but to face the inner conflicts, and I found a clarity, made a decision and had peace of mind. _____________________ August 16, 2022 Poetry/Verse/The Battle Within Copyright Protected, ID 08-1480-475-16 All Rights Reserved, 2022, Constance La France Written for the Standard contest, Inner Conflict sponsor, Unseeking Seeker, Judged 08/20/2022 First Place

Dear Constance. Your poem is what yearning and strength are about. It spoke to me, as I was angry at myself for allowing things to happen. I finally forgave myself. I'm so happy you have found peace, too.

We are not Ostriches to bury our heads in the sand and if we have conflict or strife in our lives should deal with it immediately and not let it fester. I Like your approach Constance as I do much the same and i find that communication with someone can always help to first unburden yourself and then you can think more clearly. A sensible beautifully crafted, creative poem, well penned Constance. hugs, blessings, Jennifer.
