The Awakening

February throws off its winter coat,
Nature awakes to greet the warming sun,
then hides from the winnowing winds of March;
Greening lawns answer the mower's call,
grass,mud and moss recycled in trees,where
territorial praise greets light April;
Fresh foliage bedeck and blossom white
as Spring flowers in high definition,
ablaze and become technicolour May.

Thank you Brian for heads up on new contest. Sounds like fun. This is a lovely spring poem. We are into spring here in the Northwest USA with daffodils blooming and blossoming trees. Love, Joyce

It actually felt like May here yesterday! 70 degrees and a beautiful day...daffodils starting to bloom. On the down side, however, weatherman says winter is coming back to visit this weekend! Nice while it lasted!! Lovely blank verse poem...should be a wonderful contender if this is for the contest! Best wishes~ Carrie

Great season write in blank verse. I like the first line especially but we all know that Feb. can't have cleaned and put in storage that winter coat. Keep the creative pen flowing. Sara
