That Will Teach Me
I have one of those faces that tells on me
As sure as if I had opened my mouth
The crowd around the table is laughing
They all saw my face fall
They know it’s too late to bluff.
There is no purpose in it.
I am defeated and know it.
So far I have lost my house, car, and possibly my clothes.
I can see security running over to take off my little black dress.
I begin to smirk at the thought.
The guy across from me stops laughing.
The rest of them do too.
Apparently now they think I can bluff?
I guess they have not been at this table long.
Wait. I guess I have not been at this table long.
Where is my friend? Where is my purse? Where are my chips?
That will teach me not to imbibe on free drinks or go to the bathroom in Vegas.
