Once, I saw rainbows, across the tear washed sky. Their iridescent gleam illumining the astral realm and spilling down into the waters below. Buds burgeoning on every branch, Flowers opening their delicate folds, and summer bees spiraling around, gathering nectar for frosty days. Saw radiant smiles gleaming past, angelic babes’ innocent face, Men toiling from dawn to dusk going about their lives’ odyssey, Speeding vehicles moving down as ants, in an unbroken chain, Nature, posing from time to time in silken green, amber gold and in dazzling white Everything fleeted past, as through the window of a speeding train. Neither did they linger long nor were they daubed bright in paints variegated, on my mind's impressionable canvas to call them back to mind at will. I lived my life in acute haste. Colors, shades and myriad scenes passed me by as common sight But now with a heavy mist blocking out my sight and an inexorable darkness covering me like a shroud, plunging me, all of a sudden, into a perpetual night where sun beams never again shall fall, I realize with a jolt, how much I have missed and how much more I will miss!

We all would miss a lot. But we should focus on what makes us happy. "I lived my life in acute haste. Colors, shades and myriad scenes passed me by as common sight." Words smooth like star's skin. "Nature, posing from time to time in silken green, amber gold and in dazzling white." Nature has some cute pose. Cheers, dear Valsa.

"I lived my life in acute haste. Colors, shades and myriad scenes passed me by as common sight" -- lovely imagery, Valsa; "I realize with a jolt, how much I have missed and how much more I will miss!" -- Just my opinion, but we see what we are able to see, each and every incarnation. The mystery and wonder will continue infinite. Lovely poetry, heartfelt with incredible honesty. And skill. Have a great day my friend!

Your poetry's path is that of the one true light that enlightens the soul, mind, and heart, dear Valsa. Regrettably, the global community has rapidly descended into darkness; may those seeking this salvation discover it. There is a colossal difference between the old and the new. A beautifully crafted poem full of striking imagery. At times, life might swallow us whole, weighing us down with obligations and chores until our illusions fade away.

This world is sadly going towards darkness faster and faster, blessed are those which seek this source and come out from among the darkness. To walk in the only true lighted path , that shines in the heart, mind and souls, we love ya, take care,

Beautiful imagery Valsa, Blindness is a terrible affliction. I wouldn't be able to cope with it. Had an eye test recently and my optician found the start of cataracts in its early stages. I wear sunglasses now when it's bright. Hope you're keeping well and good luck in the contest. Tom

How sad to think it took losing one's sight in order to appreciate the beauty that is evident all around us. Powerful writing Valsa!

Sometimes life does overtake us and enshrouds us with things, things to do and things to get done and takes away our rainbows. I like the last two lines how you are given the opportunity to change the situation in which you are now seemingly trapped but can change for the better. I am supposing it could be meaning you personally or maybe just a situation you see happening to the whole world. Thanks for sharing it with us. Sara K
