THAT THING
It awoke again
That thing
That painful howl
Lost
In a labyrinth
Of lies
Snarling
at the sunshine
Longing
for the darkness
Hiding
in the shadows
That thing
That searing memory
The razor’s edge
Of lunacy
Slicing
The hope of peace
Dashing
The dream of dalliance
Clawing
At cerebral caution
Tearing
At the heart
Of the one
Who saved them both.
