That Is Why You Lie

You’ve felt so ashamed
So unjustified
It pains to explain
And that’s why you lie

Everyday it’s a battle
That no one can see
Your glass looks half full
But is nearly empty

You come up short
Letting others down
The tasks you abort
Litter the ground

The critique that you hear
Is multiplied by ten
Yet falls on deaf ears
Til you hear it again

The boredom is real
Though, so much to do
The onion, you peel
Has you constantly blue

Too much to take in
Whether bad or good
It’s hard to keep friends
When, misunderstood

You feel undeserving
You’re undignified
The truth is unnerving
And that’s why you lie

"Oh what a tangled web we weave..." Another fine write. I do not know anyone who likes liars but most of them lie.

One thing I detest is being lied to Anna, its caused such issues in my personal life in the last 5 years and sadly see it on soup. the more people lie the more they have to remember to cover it up and that is so often where their deception is discovered:-( hugs Jan xx

I think so many things would just be easier if people didn’t lie. In this poem, I was addressing it as a “symptom” of ADHD though. I could never lie when it counts, but if put on the spot and embarrassed, I have been known to blurt out a lie before thinking. Then I start back tracking and trying to find a way to turn it to truth because I, too, detest lies.
