Terra Incognita

Far beyond the reaches of the Milky Way A galaxy exists which remains unnamed Unseen by human eye or large telescope, It is, to my knowledge, not yet defamed. Pure and undefiled, suitable for living In a Goldilocks zone yet to be uncovered Fresh clean air, and an abundance of water, Awaiting its coordinates to be discovered. A terra incognita resembling heaven Is just beyond the reach of our technology But, we are advancing in our capability To comprehend its complicated cosmology. Someday, it promises a necessary respite A new home for humanity in far outer space When we’ve destroyed our home on earth We can start ruining a new, pristine place!

...we can start ruining a new, pristine place. That's the truth. Your poem is just wonderful, so full of wonderful thoughts till your last line :) Astro-physicists have found many likely new homes for us; we just need to find a new philosophy! Congratulations on your win!

Hello Milton, Such truisms in your words, especially our propensity to foul a pristine paradise. Congratulations on the win! Best wishes, Brian

Thank you, Brian. Sadly, I'm afraid my poem was pretty much on target.

Thanks, Joseph. Yep, I suspect that is true, and I have no doubt that eventually it will be discovered.

I hope it will be this easy for our great great grandchildren "When we’ve destroyed our home on earth We can start ruining a new, pristine place!" at the rate we are destroying our planet!

I am so tickled. My son Adam's oldest daughter graduated from U. of Central Florida today in International Business. She is going to law school and already has a job in a lawyer's office. Smart gal, and I'm so proud of her! Beautiful, too.

Milt, you have penned a powerful poem that deeply illustrates a story of man told over and over again - finding a paradise on earth only to repeat a pattern of destruction based on self entitlement. Best wishes for the contest. Blessings on your voyage into new galaxies.

I wonder if that will one day be a reality, colonising another world. Good luck in the contest Milton. Tom Soup Mail.
