Notes About The Poem

Tender Is This Love

Love has taken a firm grasp of my soul,
ridding me of chill and bite of hoarfrost
Strong arms rescued me from the Winter's cold
Etched upon my heart is his name,  embossed

He soothed my senses and woeful sorrows,
offered moonbeams to dispel darkest nights
Erased the reasons for my brow's furrows
Lifted me from harm and set my world aright

He drowned me in crashing tides of passion
then revived me with life's breath in a kiss
Pray, heart,  keep beating in such sweet fashion
ne'er to be slain and cast in death's deep abyss.

Tender is this love through nature's seasons
with gentle reminders of heart's reasons

This is wonderfully romantic Lin. An appropriate form to write in as well (although his name embossed on your heart sounds rather painful, especially if it ever ended).

First, James, I want to thank you for liking this sonnet so well. Secondly, if love takes hold of a heart, the name of that loved one will always remain. Whether or not that love lives on, the memories are etched in the heart for eternity.

A beautiful romantic sonnet, Lin. I really loved these two lines ... he drowned me in crashing tides of passion, then revived me with life's breath in a kiss. Elegantly expressed. Throw on some romantic Elvis Presley and it's all good. Great write, dear. Love always. RW

Thanks so much, RW. I'll pass on the sounds of Elvis. If there's murmurings going on I want it to be his or mine...or both. lol

Why, Lin Lane - as I live and breath, I'm happy to see you! Surely you just came back or I would have noticed. Your poem is you - beautiful and beautifully written. I wonder if it is for the English Sonnet contest? Ours are alike in theme. I loved it and I love seeing you ... CayCay

Hi CayCay. I'm happy to see you as well. Thanks for your lovely comments and it wasn't written for a contest. I don't spend a lot of time here any longer but I'll make a point of reading your sonnet and I'm sure it'll do very well in the contest. I'm not really back to post regularly, but every once in a while I pop in with one.
