Cherry Blossoms
March gets wrapped in a fleece of snow
on which Dawn cast a golden glow.
But Robin Red breasts says hello
promising Winter will soon go;
as Spring showers fetch a rainbow.
Plants apply a base coat of green;
as time inks color to the scene.
Trees take on an emerald sheen,
and skies shift to aquamarine.
Pussy willows begin to bud
as crocuses pop through the mud,
and meltwaters set creeks to flood.
Cherry blossom blooms open pink,
offering butterflies a drink.
My favorite season is Spring.
When fragrant scented breezes blow,
Spring sunsets are tinged tangerine.
And raindrops morph into lifeblood
as the soil becomes a heat sink;
fostering flowers May will bring.
