The Hidden Life of Rain
The sky has tears to shed
for the sins on earth,
but when it cries,
it withholds the salt from its tears,
so our parched throats may be soothed by clear water,
arid soils may bring forth life,
trees may bear fruits,
animals may live to await slaughter,
and our tears shan’t be lost in tears not our own.
The raindrops fall on the oceans too,
so they enter seawater,
are reunited with salt,
and, buried in the deep,
are tears again.
And the sky,
loving all that is below,
keeps on crying tears unknown.
