taxing
School requires time, organization, focus, stamina and lots of coffee.
And I’m lucky, I don’t have to run some part-time side-hustle job.
Peter (my bf) and I live rent-free in my Grandmère’s Paris hôtel particulier, as long as we attend 1 event per month - that she picks - with her. I think that’s a sweet deal and deals are on my mind today.
Because last Tuesday we had an admin-night - where we did our taxes.
What a dopamine hit that was.
You’d be shocked at what the modern trust-fund-baby has to pay in taxes.
Could my taxes have paid bonuses
to entice some unemployed whites,
to seek a career with ICE?
Maybe I bought a missile
we have to keep those in stock -
did I buy us a tick off the doomsday clock?
Perhaps I bought the navy some new drones
though I’d rather they buy a child a book
or a delicious ice cream cone.
Did I contribute
to a Trump ceremonial occasion
where he claimed victory for some pointless invasion?
Or will they use my tax dollars
to tear the portico off the White House?
If so, or not - whatever - you're welcome, America.
